And when We cause to taste (the) people mercy, they rejoice therein. But if afflicts them an evil for what have sent forth their hands, behold! They despair.
View 81 More Translations ↓And [thus it is:] when we let men taste [Our] grace, they rejoice in it; but if evil befalls them as an outcome of what their own hands have wrought lo! they lose all hope
And when We let men taste mercy, they rejoice in it; but if some evil befalls them for that their own hands have forwarded, behold, they despair
When We give men a taste of Mercy, they exult thereat: and when some evil afflicts them because of what their (own) hands have sent forth, behold, they are in despair
وَإِذَاۤ أَذَقۡنَا ٱلنَّاسَ رَحۡمَةࣰ فَرِحُوا۟ بِهَاۖ وَإِن تُصِبۡهُمۡ سَیِّئَةُۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ إِذَا هُمۡ یَقۡنَطُونَ ٣٦
wa-idhā adhaqnā l-nāsa raḥmatan fariḥū bihā wa-in tuṣib'hum sayyi-atun bimā qaddamat aydīhim idhā hum yaqnaṭūn
